The chickens marks the "Snakes and Arrows" tour, IIRC. The tour prior was some vending machines, and then before that the clothes dryers. Geddy's had crazy stuff as his backline ever since dumping his Ampeg's in favor of the Sansamp.

The funny part is his stage backline is always practicle. They used to do the road crews laundry onstage, and the roasted chickens are real and can feed the crew.

I've never been a Rush fan, but I saw some of the Rio show, and was perplexed and amused by Geddy's laundromat. I came away liking them better for having factored in some goofiness.
And man, that Brazilian crowd sure digs a Rush show.
