    Custom Shop Modern Classic pickups.....

It is hard to find any specs or information on the CS Modern Classic pickups. I recently purchased a CS Classic Thin Skin with these pickups installed and have been wondering what other owners feel about them, likes or dislikes.

What I have noticed so far is that they sound more strat like with the volume rolled back a little and sound more bucker like wide open. I adjusted the height to suit my needs with the amp and am learning to accept the hum.

I think you'll find that a lot people are going to have widely different opinions because custom shop guitars tend to be very individual in their sound so even though two might have the same pickups they'll probably sound very different anyway.

It's so variable. Depends on the amp, how you set it, the guitar itself, and the player's technique. Whne different players describe a pickup it's like the old story about blind guys describing an elephant.

Thanks Custom 5 and Offshore Angler, I will probably pull the pickguard up at some point and measure the DC resistance just to see what these pickups are comparable to.

So far I adjusted them down to fit the amp and I am really starting to like them. I will most likely pick up a ISP decimater to clean up the 60 cycle hum.

no need to pull the guard. just plug a short 1/4" cable in and measure off of that. the DC resistance will be a little lower do to the pups running through the circuit prior to reading, but it will be close enough. usually off by about 0.1-0.2k.

Thanks, I am guessing they are going to be on the hot side of town. I am really warming up to them. They sound killer with the volume rolled back to about 8 .
