    New amp build time again

I'm going to order a new amp kit in the next couple of days. I'm thinking tweed Princeton in a TV front cabinet. I need a small amp.

Any thoughts as to color? I love the green/salt&pepper combo, but I've already got a bluesbreaker style like that.

I'm thinking red levant with either black or salt & pepper grill, but I'm open to suggestion....

    What do you think?

Is levant just the texture of the tolex?

Weren't you talking about Brown Deluxes recently?

Yes, but nobody has a kit. I'm going to build that inside an old Univox combo I have that has "SOLID STATE" proudly emblazoned on the front.

    This'll be a Weber 5F2-A kit.

Levant is the 'elephant hide' stuff that you find on Marshalls.

    Gotcha!

There's a lot of 5F2A talk around lately. I'm wanting to do one of those next, too. Still debating if I'm going stock 5F2, or doing some parallel-single-ended thing.

    Red would look good w/Salt&Pepper.
The Checkerboard would work too, or wheat.
Can you get white piping around the edge of the grill?

Checkerboard might be too big a pattern for a small amp.

When I think of a red amp, I see the half-stack Tom Petty used a few years back

Funny, I just played Univox U305-R lastnight.
    First time in a while.

That would need to be DIY. If it requires anything more than a screwdriver, wrench or soldering iron, I'm a complete feeb.

I like the salt n' pepper with red too...and wheat would be a nice choice also.

I have my 6M18 with red and Checkerboard and it's a great combination, but like NeoFarve said it might not work as well with that small of an amp. I got Salt & Pepper on an amp and I'm not that thrilled with it. I would go with black over it. How about Tie Dyed.

Tan or cream Tolex with a darker stained wicker grill cloth.

Decided to go differently. Levant purple with black grille.

    A grand idea!
Reminds me of the Sunn Alpha 5E3 Tweed Deluxe I know about.

If it's a TV fronted cab then the vintage brown would go with that 'feel' and about the only cloth that would go with it is wheat though the old Orange cane would go killer with it... I know - Ted doesn't keep it but - it would look badass - is he makin' a TV cab special for ya?

Nope TV cab is an option. You can also get a V-front cab, but I think the baffle stays straight. At least it does on a single-speaker amp.

I've got enough "normal" black, brown, blonde and tweed. I need different.

Okay - lime green with Wingnut's suggestion of tie-dyed cloth... that oughta catch the eye...

Re: New amp build time again

The purple 6A20 I built with the salt and pepper grill cloth may get the tie-dyed treatment someday. I just don't like the look of the salt and pepper on this amp and I think the right tie-dyed cloth would look great with the purple. I saw someone else who had used tie-dyed tee-shirts and it looked awesome.
