over again at gary's house picking up some miscellaneous parts he had for me, he's in the middle of reorganizing his shop. as i was about to leave he asked me if i wanted an old fender head box. i didn't really want to, then he said "oh well i guess i'll take the sledge to it." i couldn't let him do that so i loaded it in the truck.
after some questions we started to formulate a plan. gary has a huge stockpile of old trannies in his shop, the ones we'll probably use are from his collection of silverface 135 UL twins, superbassmans, bassman 100s. we're still formulating what exactly we're gonna do. but for right now we're thinking a single channel amp, about 130 or so watts, a fender tmb tone stack, with a master volume. we'll be ordering a mojo twin chassis to use in this build. the cab in question is an old showman reverb. my first order of business will be the chassis, making a faceplate, and then populating the chassis with the pots, jacks, tube sockets, and transformers.
gary will of course be helping me all the way through this build. this is my first amp, and probably not the best choice, but damn i've been hankerin' for a big fender to play my bass through.
when this is done i'll quite a nice selection of amps; marshall, ampeg, and sunn. all around 100-120 watts. great club heads.
so here's the little cab that could.
