Funny story: A Buddy of mine was a HUGE EMG guy, granted he plays Death/Grind Metal, so they are fitting for him, He always told me he would never change them. Recently he bought a Bareknuckles Nailbomb and has since now left the emg's in the dust.
Check ebay maybe for some Custom shop 69's, the 57/62 set sounds excellant as well, or you could go the Vintage noiseless way(or Hot Vintage noiseless if you need a leetle bit more) Best thing I can suggest to ya would be to go to your local shop, test out as many strats as you can with different pickups, Find the ones ya like and check out ebay. Good luck !

sage advice.
try them all out for free and see what ya like.

Ayup......Stonefreefuzz knows his bidness 'cause he is in the bizz. He's tellin' you square.
That said, if'n you need a skosh more "honk", you might also give DiMarzio an' Seymour-Dunk a look-see.

The '80s are over? Does that mean I have to get rid of my mullet?
just trim it up a skoach, you'll be fine.

lol! I was really kidding- Mother Nature has been trimming back my mullet for some time now. But here's a shot from around '89 when I had some SERIOUS mullet action:

ain't nuthin wrong with a little bit of "mull" showing. heck, trashy chicks now have the "tramp stamp" to parade around...LOL.

You may wanna give GFS a try they offer some good pups for a reasonable price...
Thanks for all the info. I didn't know about GFS. I'm interested. I had a bit of a mullet to back then. Its when it gets to long and you start looking like Billy ray thet i't's really bad. I happen to have a pic of me with a mullet and the guitar were talking about.

Dude, that's a nice car!
Great hair, too. Yep, I remember them days all too well...
Great looking Schecter too...I've always wanted one of those original ones in red-like Knopfler's.
I just wanted to say that I've tried strats out with the Vintage Noiseless and thought they were a bit polite sounding. Not bad, but, y'know, a bit shy and unassuming...
"I'm gonna find myself a girl
that can show me what laughter means
And we'll fill in the missing colors
In each other's paint-by-number dreams..."
Nice guitar and nice car!

Birdseye! I love figured maple necks.
The neck on this guitar is my all time fave. It's c shaped and it's awsome. I love knofler as well. I'm listening to him allot now. As far as I'm concerned one note from Mark blows away any shredder.
Oh, The car is my dads. It is the only 911 with this coler. It's a blast to drive. As long as there are no cops around. tehehe
Well, I like the EMG's that I had on my old Les Paul copy, and I like the Active 81's on my new ESP.
I am installing Seymour Duncans on my Fender strat when I get the SSL2 model.
1986 Contemporary Fender Stratocaster E series model 27-4100
2008 ESP LTD f400-fm electric guitar
2005 Takamine G series accoustic/electric guitar
Peavy Special amp
Boss multi effects pedal board ME 8
Boss Metal Zone pedal
Ibanez Tube Screamer
Vox wawa pedal
I like EMG's for recording.
81,85, or 89's.
Nice, quiet, zero RF problems.
And quite toneful if you set the height low.
Most people set them too high, and they sound muddy.
Bareknuckles? Great also, but very expensive, and kind of one dimensional overall. They will put out some serious grind!
My buddy (same dude who put the bareknuckle nailbomb in his caparison guitar, which by the way have amazing searing tone,an' clean up nicely(for a higher output pickup) when rollin' back the volume knob ) did something pretty cool with his Jackson soloist equipped with EMG's , wired it to 18 volts and it now requires two 9 volt batteries, a quick little mod that VASTLY improves the EMG tone, pretty cool, I think you can find the mod online somewhere, definitely worth checkin' out!

I know of it.
I have an 85 in a Charvel Model 88.
Heavy dinky style, african ribbon mahogany.
Just connect the two in series, and it opens up the pup a bit.
I never saw any need for it, but perhaps the guitar has a lot to do with the tone I'm getting.
I tried an EMG set in my Jackson DKMGT (dinky body, poplar), and went back to using the original Jackson passives. The EMGS's sounded just a bit too sterile for that guitar. It was an 81/85 set.
I went back to using the Jackson J90C, which is close to a Dimarzio
PAF in character.
I only tried the Bareknuckles once, in a buddy's DK1 (similar to my DKMGT),
through a 5150. It was so much fun I didn't try to clean it up! But I can only expect to get a certain sound out of a 5150 anyhoo. :)
