    MIM neck finnish

Don't know if this issue was discussed, but here I go.

The neck finish on the neck of my MIM standard is quite thick.
Will it improve the sound of my guitar if i sand the neck with some 0000 sand paper or steel wool?

Even if it would, which it won't,trying to thin out the finish to any noticable degree with anything that fine will be an extremely long term project.

    But......

    AND..........

if you do and it is nice and smooth and satin-y.......you could lemon oil it and see how you like that. My JV had satin finish.....and I did exactly that. NO, the sound din't change - yes - it feels NICE!

Ok. I'm still very interested in doing this. Did anyone do this ti a MIM standard strat? Or maybe there's some information in this forum (the search is kinda tricky, because it gives a lot of posts you don't need)
