looking for a moog synth bass tone.

with a standard passive bass and a tube amp. just wondering what you guys might suggest. my buddy said maybe a filter and a fuzz. i think that might be close but thought i should ask here also since someone else might have tried this already.

I might try one of these, from a store where I could return it if it didn't do what i wanted. I think E-H makes something similar, too.

I had the guitar version of that pedal and was REALLY impressed with the variety of bizarre noises it could make. It was a fun pedal. I didn't have any practical application for it though.

The bass player in my band has the E-H Envelope Follower thing for bass and it had that Parliament Funkadelic "Flashlight" sound nailed. Very cool.

The Moogerfooger "Freq Box" looks like it would be the real deal.

This one's $100 more than the Digitech, but it's got some extremely funky sounds. Check out the Interactive Demo under the "Docs, Multimedia" tab:

went with the digitech cause it was cheap. if it's close to what i'm wanting to hear i might step up to the "big leagues", cause those moogerfoogers look like the sland.
