    kustom guard.

i dumpster dove for a cool piece of vinyl flooring a couple months back, and this is what came of it.

just need to cut the neck pup out, drill the mounting holes, and smooth a couple edges and i'll be golden.

ha ha, cool. it looks the business, for sure. mightnt there be some problems associated with the softness of the material? like cracks or bubbling? i gotta say, this is a first for me--- way to think out of the box.

Heh. It's got a real 1970s vibe. How great would it look on a guitar painted 1970s refrigerator green?

i'm building a copy of my thinline bisgby esquire, and one of the colors on the list is "avacado green"... i'm thinking about it, first on the list was gibson gold top. i think what i'll do is make some painted test peices and lay the guard on it and see what looks best. i just really dug the pattern, it's really close to what my grandma had in her house.

    toobalicious:

considered that, i think what i'll do is laminate the thing to some clear lexan, or something like that. for now i wanted to fab it up and then plan out the rest of the guitar.

i'll post some pics when i make more progress on this project.

thanks for all the kind words.

    Me too!

I think a nice applianceburst finish would look nice.
