Big Muff - oh, yeah, I'm divin' in!

I just returned from a trip to Sound Source - a place where they always seem to have just what I "need." And, they had an almost-unused EH Big Muff. So, now I have 7 gain pedals...

    SD1
    TS9RI
    Reverend DT II
    DOD Overdrive Preamp
    BYOC Tri-booster

    Will the sickness ever end?

I say you string 'em all on the same loop, crank 'em all up, and see what happens!

I'm posting in this thread simply because I like its title!

    Sounds like a winner!

I actually one one of those in a drawing, and I had it for a bit, and liked it, but I ultimately got bored with it. Too similar to some other pedals I owned at the time.

Actually, the DT II is on the sidelines right now. It's lost 3 of 4 rubber feet, and will not sit flat because of the really dumb battery hatch design, - plus I needed a hex nut for a jack on another pedal that was missing one so I cannibalized it from the DriveTrain.

A couple of small fixes will have 'er up and running.

I think that the pedal sounds great used as a clean boost with a tele - gives it a nice snarl - but I just don't like it as much as my TS9 because of its bigger footprint (it would not fit on my pedalboard now) and because the TS9 seems a bit more forgiving.

Now, I'll bet that OSA would really dig it - it nails the big sound he gets when his DRRI is wound up pretty high, but can do that at a lower volume.

I know the feeling, I use all of the following in one combination or another on my pedal boards. Yes, it is a sickness

My Big Muff is bigger than yours, Mike! Nyah -- nyah - nyah - nyah....nyah!

Of course, in today's parlance and in current personal grooming styles, I know it's not really something to brag about... ;-)

    They're mad, mad sounding pedals!
I do think the sickness could be cured with a 5E3 though... I've not even thought about using pedals since I finished mine.

It may not be the biggest... but it gets the job done

i have 2 muffs, a rat, a tubescreamer, 3 fuzz boxes i built from BYOC, a dod 250, a rangemaster, a soul preacher, boss metal zone, a sans amp, and my ashdown octave divider that has distortion on it. and i'm STILL considering some others.

no my friend, there is no end in sight. "loud" pedals are fun, and i love them all for what they do.

rock on man! now go plug that into a marshall!

Sounds pretty good on Spooky. Nice Santana sound. It's what I've been looking for when I want a super saturated lead sound...
