aiming for a classic rock sound...i think the 60's teles tend to have that sound, so i guess i'm looking for 60's tele pickups.
are the vintage noiseless pickups the ones i should use?

Definitely not...Actually IMO, use anything but Vintage Noiseless. I have them in my Tele, and I regret buying them. If you want to go with Fender, try the Nocaster pickups. They are a bit pricey, but they sound like a million bucks.
If you want cheap practically brand new pickups, try the Stratosphere on Ebay. They have American and FJ pickups for good prices.

Try the Bill Lawrence Keystones. They'll go from twangin country to nice and dirty R&R, and only cost about $80 a set.
If I could play, I wouldn't need such nice guitars
Does anyone know what kind of pickups Bill Crook uses for his guitars?
i like the duncan broadcaster pup. usually pick them up for like $40, raw, mean, but still sweet. not overbearing tonally. to me they have a nice blend of sweet and RAWK! there are so many good choices out there, that sometime it's hard to choose just one. good luck on your quest man!
"don't worry, i'm a professional!"
they are going into a thinline telecaster, mahogany, if that makes a difference.
I'm going to say look at GFS. Yes, I've joined the bandwagon...
