    Telecast's band

Just got home from Telecast's gig in Sylvania (just west of Toledo), Ohio. Great little bar with a very favorable ratio of women to men. Telecast flat out jammed! He also has an incredible voice. Even though Flashback has only played 3 gigs, they were remarkably tight. The did a great job of staying very true to the songs they were covering. Most impressive!

BTW, Telecast doesn't look anything like Moe! Also, I forgot to mention that he's a real nice guy, too (his persona here must be just schtick, I think!). There's talk of organizing a jam in this region, too...Stay tuned!
...and on the 8th day, God created the Super Reverb and there was ROCK, and it was GOOD!

I'm sorry...I forgot to mention meeting SFK (damn, dude! What were you doing up at 4:00 AM? I crashed right after I posted! I'm not used to this late night stuff anymore). SFK (John) is a great guy too! I really wish I could have stayed for the whole show, but I had to leave at 12:00. It was 105 mile ride home...

105 miles to Flint. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of smokes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it! - The Blues Brothers (sort of)

Looking forward to jamming with all!

Wow, thanks for the kind words! It so much easier to play to an audience! After our firs two gigs I was starting to wonder. It's almost odd these days to find a bar with a built-in crowd.

We enjoyed having you guys out. Flintpunk, it was a pleasure meeting you (Flintpunk doesn't look anything like Moe either, but there is a definite resemblence to Larry....)

As for my voice, well, I knew it was special. I've heard people say "Cripes, I ain't never heard anything like that before..."

    Thanks again guys!

    Yep, nice guy that Telecast!

Usually, I shave my head in the summertime, so I probably look more like Curly. My wife says I look like Mr. Clean, though.

A Jam in the Michigan area?

That sounds like it could be fun.

Actually, we were thinking along the lines of Sylvania OH, the place we're at this weekend. It's a perfect setup for a jam. Good food, nice little stage, enough seating, etc.

After we see how it goes tonight (ie: If we get a call back) I'll approach it with her. Free entertainment and a guaranteed crowd should be sufficent.

The real question: Did you heckle him? (I was relying on you)
do I look like I know what I'm doing?

Yeah once. He said they were gonna play an old Beatles song. I asked him if there were any new ones.

    So that was you?

Whatta dick! It was pretty funny at the time. I related the story last night to the crowd when I was announcing the song, no one laughed. I guess you had to be there....

Oddly enough, we didn't get a Freebird request. We did however, get requests all night (both nights) for Skynard. A request for Simple Man came up, I haven't heard that song since the last millenium. I have not seen Sweet Home Alabama fill a dance floor like that in years, it was pretty surprising. Three Steps too.

We also got many requests for Bob Seger. We went through the catalog and played all we knew, then pulled Get Out of Denver out of the cobwebs, it went over very well. This band had never done it before, but if you can play Johnny B. Goode very fast you can play Denver. The only hard part is the lyrics.

I trainwrecked FlintPunk's favorite tune. I had a total brain fart on the second verse to Leave Your Hat On. Amazing. Of all the lyrics that have given me trouble from time to time, that was never one of them. I just blanked out. I couldn't remember them until this morning! Oh well, shit happens. At least there were dancers and no one seemed to notice.

We ended up with two good nights. Last night the crowd was bigger, albeit deader. It started well with a full dance floor and lots of response, and ended up with a lot of foot tapping, singing along, bobbing heads, but no applause and very little dancing. Just a different crowd, plus it was hotter than hell.

So, the chance for a jam down there is promising. I'm going to talk to her this week for a re-book, and will bring it up then.

To answer your question from the other thread, the ratio was still up. One guy walked in with 4 (count 'em) 4 women. The extraordinarily hot bartender was in attendance all night.

Sounds more like you were in Sylvania, Alabama! Those are the kinds of requests we usually get down here. Glad the gig went well.

Exactly! I told her she should wear it every night!

Man, she is a hottie. Really nice too. Friday was her first night, she said she'd never tended bar or waitressed before. (probably why I had to keep reminder her to put a lime in my Corona)

My guess is they hired her for the visuals!
