    Intellitouch tuner question.

(Sorry if this isn't the right place for this but I searched TU-2 to find out where tuner posts might be and they're all over the forum.)

I finally broke down and picked up the tuner I've been wanting. The Intellitouch PT-1. (Now I don't have to borrow RCs anymore.) They're really neat in that you just clip them on the headstock and they're there when you need them, out of the signal path. Works on vibration, not signal so they're great on acoustics also. Much better than the cheapo Quicktune and more convenient than my CD-GT1.

Anyway, I bought it used without a manual and don't know how to use the "learn" and "preset" functions.

Can anyone shed any light here?

These baby's are indeed really neat and have 1000 uses. Acoustics, basses, electrics - they all work. It's great for changing strings and stuff because you don't have to be plugged in or close to a microphone either. If you are changing from guitar to guitar, just clip on. If someone else sitting in doesn't have a tuner - you just hand it to them.

Is it perfect? No. Sometimes you have to move it around on the headstock to find a good spot. Sometimes you have to play the note you want to tune with another fingering to get it looking for the right note.

    It's a great little tuner.

You can't expect a guitarist to tune up AND read instructions in the same day!

Mine can never lock in on the lower two strings of a bass. It's handy, otherwise, but I like my TU-2 better overall.

Agreed Jesse. I never could use RC's on my bass very easily either. I had to get it "just right" on the head stock.

Then again... it could have been an operator error.

    Re: Intellitouch tuner question.

I went on a tuning binge last night. With only two guitars I had go back and check them repeatedly.

Toys are fun. Maybe I can clamp it on my kid's nose and teach him to scream in perfect pitch.

TT - No. You don't want to do that. He may think this is fun and do something to Olivia.... then take it outside to the neighbors kids.... then to church.....

    Think about it. :ahem

When playing live though...Remember to give the singer that much more stage room....They dont work quite as well attatched to ones colon!

I think we've established they don't work well on bass notes.

Well... the gift idea is out then. Back to the drawing board.
