Sold the "Bull" last night...now what?

Got an offer I couldn't refuse on my SX 62 custom whatever bass.
Snapped it up, now I need to get another one.
I'll have up to $400 for it.
Maybe I'll just go back to rondo and go from there. Since it's not going to be a "main gigging bass", and only used once in a while for a practice session, maybe just another Jazz or P bass knockoff will do.
Maybe I'll go five string this time?
    Hmmmmm.
Maybe not even get a bass at all. Would be nice to do a MIM standard tele.

    Mikey -

    The Ash ones are nice......

Sorry you missed Marcondos Deluxe - right in the price range!

The Five was Really nice, but not for me........I'll bet if I had taken time to set it up and get used to it.....it would have worked. For some reason - it had slightly different tuners......heavier.

Have you looked at the Epi Thunderbirds? I got to play one and a Epi Les Paul at the same sitting and really liked them A LOT!

I didn't really look at them, but I will now.

I know the one I'd like to get, but I don't know it's handle.
It's a jazz bass they have at House Of Guitars. It's kind of a cherry burst thing with extra control stuff at the knobs. I'm thinking it's some sort of active deluxe thing. I'll have to pop on over to the Fender site and do some research. I don't know why, but I've got a gut feeling that's it's going to be priced around 800 or so.
Besides, what am I looking to get another bass (or guitar) for that matter? I'm a freakin' drummer for Chrissssakes!.
Crossfyre is talking about adding in some more modern tunes and i may need to get a double pedal and another wing for my rack to hold another snare and a remote hi-hat. Geesh!

Re: Sold the "Bull" last night...now what?

There is an american Jazz deluxe at the local shop - I was going to play it to compare to the one I just got From Marco.......

I am not sure how much they differ, but for the bang to buck ratio.....I believe it will be hard to beat the MIM J-Dlx....

THe Epi's I mentioned have a great feel - but you have to like that feel for it to fit. I happend to like them alot....the LP was used and had heavy strings and a fairly high set up....played nicely though - soft action and nice neck. The TBird was VERY LONG feeling and more sleek. Both sounded very chunky, but not really P-Bass like. I played them through a hartke rig of some kind at a shop - hard to say what it would sound like through my stuff, your stuff, or any other stuff for that matter.....

Get out to try em and price em......

I sometimes take a digital camera to shop.....pictures of hte setup, action and details are helpful.....and getting the price tag in the pic helps for reference too......

No difference in the electronics on the MIM Deluxe and USA model same parts.

The difference is the MIM ones have the wood cut in the USA and shipped to mexico for paint and assembly the USA made ones arent shipped anywhere.

There are some slight differences in the Deluxe USA and MIM mostly neck edges and markers and graphite rods.

But on tape there wont be a difference in a live sound they both use the same body woods and electronics.

In that price range I'd sniff around for a nice used 50's Classic P-bass...or build a clone with similar specs but larger frets...but that's just me.
