    new tubes

    on my 77 twin - what is good replacement tube set? should i change the smalls ones also? these are all the original tubes

    The generally preferred output tubes for BF/SF twins are NOS 7581 tubes. A lot of folks like the SED 6L6's for current manufacture.

    Some of the preamp tubes (small ones) may need to be replaced, or maybe not, depending on how much and hard the amp has been run. A lot of used-old stock US tubes are better than current manufacture replacements.

    I've heard that the TAD 6L6GC-STR and TAD 6L6WGC-STR are good too. You'll need a matched quad.
