    Tremelo pedal recommendation

Hello all, I did some searching but really didn't find any clear cut recommendations.
What have you found as a good Tremelo pedal for surf style music?

    Voodoo Labs.:yay :yay
I actually like it better than the tremolo on most of the Fender amps I've owned.

I've heard a Demeter Tremulator. That one really sounded good to me :yay x 3

The one that comes std with a DRRI works just fine.

I hear good things about the Prescription Elections Throb and the Monster Effects Swamp Thang.

But one of these days, I'll have someone who can build be a Weber ReVibe. :yay :yay

If you want to go cheap, I'd suggest a Danelectro Tuna Melt.

Compares *very* favorably with the more expensive offerings, & if you're worried about durability, buy two (or three)!

The Tuna Melt is really a good little pedal. I have a Fulltone Supa Trem on my board. I have had that for about 4 years, and it has never given me a second of trouble. I have heard the Bemeter Tremulator, and it sounds great too. Its a toss up between the two, if pedal board real estate is an issue, go with the Tremulator. Trem, slapback delay, and reverb are the only effects I use, so I am super picky about them.

Personal experience with the Supa-Trem gives it a big thumbs up. A friend has the Treumlator, and it sounds great, too.

OA says the trem in a Fender sounds great, and it does, but it's not always an option.

Tonight, I'm going to work on troubleshooting my stand-alone tube reverb/trem box.

Do how's the ReVibe going? It seems to be a bear of a build.

No. I've had several other issues, like my DMM dying, business trips, etc. Right now I've got a power supply issue, which is a bit of a pain with this circuit, since the board floats on these 3/4" or so pegs that lock into place. It also has a different circuit than the regular revibe, so it's a prototype, as well.

Anyway, the actual ReVibe circuit had some issues with noise, which seem to have been sorted out. See the Weber board for details.

    Re: Tremelo pedal recommendation

I currently have both a Demeter Tremulator and a Frantone Vibutron. I have tried a bunch of trem pedals. Here is my 2¢.

The Demeter sounds great but there is a slight volume boost when it is engaged. I find the boost a bit annoying. Some people like the boost.

The Frantone Vibutron is the best trem pedal I have tried. Easy to use,
great sound, no volume boost or drop. It is not cheap though. Very expensive, unless you can score a used one.

The Fulltone Supa trem is very nice too. It has the half/full speed switch which is a nice feature if you like to have 2 speed settings.
And a Hard/soft footswitch which switches between sine & square wave.

Since trem is impotant for Surf. I would look into the high end pedals over the Cheaper offerings.
Boss trem - volume drop, average sounding.

Danelectro Tunamelt - Sounds good but lacks the depth and fidelity of the high end units. At the cheap price point it is a great deal and a decent sounding pedal.

Voodoo trem - Better than The Boss, but at the price you are better off stepping up to the Frantone or Fulltone.

The Frantone and Fulltone which are my top 2 picks.
They both sound great, but are different enough that it is really down to your preference. The Demeter is a close 3rd (only because of the volume boost)

    Re: Tremelo pedal recommendation

Yet another vote for the Voodoo Labs. Also, if you turn the speed and intensity off and the volume up, it acts as a nice little clean boost for amps like Pro Jr and BJ.
