    Telecaster question

Looking to buy a Tele for a local guy (used) that is in near mint shape for around 600 bucks. Only thing is I can't find out what kind it is..can someone help?

    I have sn: Z1019XXX

It is made in Corona, CA

I think it is an american standard...but don't know enough about Teles to be sure.

    Any help is appreciated.

Very likely American Series. I'd almost guarantee it, but we need more info.

I can tell you from the outset it is an American-made 2001 guitar, but I can't tell more from the serial number. (An 'M' in the serial number would have meant Mexican, a 'V' at the beginning would have meant "vintage" (reissue), the 'Z1' at the beginning means 2001)

    What color?

Are the tuners "staggered" i.e., get higher from one end to another?

    Any other unusual features?

EDIT: oh yeah, the term "American Standard" did not apply after 2000, when Fender introduced the "American Series" line, which were essentially the same thing with a higher price point and some enhanced features.

    Yes indeed, that's this tele...

Sorry the picture is textured, it was used as a CD jacket for us, but you get the general idea. It's a 2001 American Series Natural Ash Tele. The one in this pick was my pride and joy at one time, until a fall caused an unfixable crack in the body where it meets the neck.

I say jump on it. That's a great price for a great guitar.
