    bigsby vibrato replcacemenrt part(s)

hey guys..ive got a bigsby b5 vibrato which i accidentally totally mangeld the string retainer bar on. the roller bar is fine but the other is pretty dead. does anyone know where i can buy another one? it seems like a big waste to just throw the whole system out.

Your Gretsch dealer can get you parts. Go to gretschguitars.com and find the right catalog numbers. They're on the price list.

I'm pretty sure the roller bar is the string retainer. I don't know my Bigsby lingo too well.

Do you mean the the bar that the strings attach to and wrap around? I don't what THAT'S called.
    http://www.elderly.com/cat_or_pgc_br...title&cat=GEPT

Elderly lists the front (tension) bar, and numerous other Bigsby bits for B5's. But I don't see the rear bar.

    Ooops!
Here it is in gold. That should give you an idea what to ask for in nickel or chrome.

    Good luck!

From the Bigsby site: Shaft, Handle, Stainless (string bar) 0495-1944

The nice thing about the Elderly site is there are photos.
But there's a pretty full list at bigsbyguitars.com.

Maybe a small custom builder like http://www.siegmundguitars.com/ that uses Bigsby's can connect you to a source for parts. Shoot 'em an e-mail.
    Can't hurt.

That name just popped into my head. The archtop "Electro" is to die for. They're all a little odd and sexy.:yay

Also, maybe Chuckocaster will spot this thread. I think he's actually modded or made some custom pieces for one of his projects.

thanks neo. chucko gave me the idea to drill right through the holes where the little ball retainers went to make stringing easier. of course i was stupid and didnt use a drill press so it looks like shit and doesnt tune at all. i hope he does chime in as i wouldnt mind getting the chrome bar.

After reading your previous post, I thought that maybe drilling it out would fix your problem. Sorry.
