    Bad-Strat-Intonation?

Changed from 10 to 09 strings and,......

no more correct fine tuning possible, :toobad

detuned strings at 12 fret, bridge saddles for high e and b in maximum front position , seems to be but not enough.....

common problem with strat bridges and 09 , or just bad strings?

Might be your neck pickup is too close and since the 9's are thinner its having more of an effect on the magnetic pull than the 10's did.

I keep my neck pickup on a Strat real low like barely above the pickguard the pickup cover is about 1/8" above the pickguard.

i always use the bridge pickup for intonating strats. but you're correct, the pickups in general could be too close now.

If you go "light" try the flat wounds or a "9" DR. Perhaps a heavier string is better. Each guitar seems to stamp it's foot and demand a certain string - even if it's unusual- ain't that peculiar?

Super-Slinkies ain' gonna cut it on a strat, 'lessin' your wanting that shleezoid shwang, which can be good, sometimes. :2c

    thanks,

don`t think it`s the usual "stratitis" because the bridge PU was always adjusted low down.

And the bridge(late70)-saddles moved to maximum front position are reducing the detuning, but only to 12% at 12 fret.

Is this a common problem with 09 on a strat bridge.....?
    (limited saddle adjustment? )
