How to set EQ on my amp with external EQ loop?

How should I go about setting my amp (Traynor YCV40) tone controls when I'm running Parametric EQ (Furman PQ3) in the loop?

I know it's all about experimenting, listening, and getting that right tone. But what is the most logical way? Should I set my bass/middle/trebble to 5 and then tweek external EQ, or set the best tone on my amp and then try to make it better with external EQ? Any other ideas?

Anybody got any experience with this? Please comment, Jaremi
I could have been someone... but so could anyone

Not sure Jaremi. I think there's two answers that may seem simplistic, but are probably right.

My first suggestion is to leave the amp EQ flat if you're going to use an external EQ in the loop, otherwise you may see the two fighting each other.

My second suggestion is probably the better one: Set it how it sounds best to you.
