    Check out my "new" Strat

Finally got my 1965 strat! Original except switch.

It's actually see through blonde with nice grain in the ash body but hard to photograph. This guitar is actually a dream come true for me. I always wanted an old strat, especially a blonde one and didn't think I would ever be able to find one I could afford. I 've known this guitar for years and it was recently made available to me. The seller is a long time friend and by his help I was able to manage it.

Not my fave colour, but very lovely all the same! Congrats!!!

What is that just below the volume control - a mini switch? For? Is the pickguard (11 hole) original, and if not do you have the old one?

Nice looking 'board too... (jealous mumbling, lucky bastard, bet he got it cheap too, etc.)

Great looking stat. Are you going to take the switch out to make it more original?

Thanks guys! Pickguard is original. The original 3-way is in it and the switch lets you get bridge/ middle and bridge/ neck. I may take it out someday if I can figure out how to fill the hole and make it look good.

    Beautiful guitar. Congratulations!

Well, are you a player or a collector?

Personally, I'd buy a new pickguard for that thing. And I'd replace that switch with a 5 way. I mean, somebody already went in there and monkeyed around with the electronics so it's not like you'd be "spoiling" the pristine vintage from the factory wiring.

You could either keep the original 3 way if you ever sell the thing or you could unload it on ebay and some knucklehead would pay way too much for it.

I'm more of a player. I've already gigged with it a few times. It sounds great! I won't change the guard but might put in a 5-way sometime. It will need frets in the future. I didn't buy it to look at :)
