    American Deluxe Strat S1 Switching

I need some help. The s1 switching that comes with the american deluxe strat... If I put in a Dimarzio Fast Track 2 pickup in the bridge position, would I still be able to use it? Thanks in advance!

Gee...kinda sounds to me like you would...as far as wiring goes...but I don't know if the pups are compatible electronically.

I would think so too, but I have to say that I really like the SCN's that I have in mine.

Thanks. I play more metal and wanted one for the bridge position.

If it is a single coil and works like a traditional pickup with two wires, then yes.

All S1 does is put pickups in series and also kicks in a different cap for some positions...

Again, if it is a single coil, then no problems.

But isn't that what the S-1 switch does? Not trying to be the devil's advocate, but I think that is what the S-1 switching gives you. Kind of the opposite of Ibanez using a 5-way switch with two humbuckers.

Well, I did it! Went to the local Fender dealer and asked to play one of those Am Deluxes. They had two in stock which told me the production run is cranked up on these. That S-1 switching is from H E double hockey sticks far as I'm concerned. Lots of noises, though! Why you'd need a Strat with more switching on it than a Maytag dish washer is beyond me...I was waiting for it to make me coffee.

I have a Fat-O-Caster V2 switch on mine that gives me 3 positions I really like, similar to S1 but different. It has more positions, but I don't use them much.

One is Neck and bridge in series, but I really like all three pickups in series. You have to drive them pretty hard, like a humbucker, but it sounds like a humbucker guitar with both pickups on, but only cleaner.

It's a unique sound I can't get out of a humbucker guitar or a single coil guitar.

The last one I use is the Neck and bridge in parallel.

you'll be able to use the s1 switching with your bridge humbucker. you could even put in a seperate coil tap. just make sure to connect the new pup the same as the old one. email me if you need more help.

Is the switch essentially a push-push DPDT switch?

Dang! You're kidding! Now that would be sumthin! I haven't seen any for sale as accessories anywhere yet. Anyone? I'd LOVE to get my hands on one if there really have more than two poles.
