well after all the bashing, trash talk, and general dispproval, I got one.
Yes, it did not work when I got it - hence it was cheap. The 330 ohm cement resistors had done a fine job of cooking the PCB. I replaced those, repaired 2 other joints and... It does not sound bad, in fact it is rather useable (the drive channel is kinda farty)
all the other 'problem areas' were fixed in 2005

HEY Kap'n... I spaced the cement resistors about 1/8" off the PCB, should I put a blob of silicone rubber adhesive on both ends of the component? Being a combo, I'm sure there are some wired vibrations going on there

I wouldn't unless the vibration was an issue.
Unfortunately leads on power resistors aren't what they used to be.

BTW, I used silicone under the 30uF Atom when I replaced my electrolytics. I notice the flying leads around V1? Mine did not have those; I take it yours is a newer, possibly MIM model?

Why they mounted the resistors flat against the fiberglass I have yet to understand,
and nobody is 'gushing' over my photography ... I guess Marks 'photots' are superior

Yeah, Mark's photography is killer.
On my HRDlx, the cement resistors were mounted against the board AND had silicone. It's no wonder mine didn't catch fire.
