Hello Hello-
Roy Buchanon's Tele had a stock flat pole piece bridge pickup that read out to around the low 6's [6k - 6.5K]. The absolute BEST sounding Esquire I've owned was a '52 with a light ash body and a flat pole pickup in the low 6's. Lots of lows and mids but not overwound. It's not alot of windings that give you good tone!
Brian.
Jeff Buckley made me want a tele ....

John Jorgensen. I first heard and saw him in the Desert Rose Band. I miss them a lot. Their live shows were amazing.
Dunno really, a lot of my earliest favorites played Gibsons: Lifeson, Page (complicated, eh?), Iommi, Betts and Allman, and a few others. Early on for me, the Tele was a country guitar, haw...
But then I started hearing Summers, Greenwood, Houser, the-Page-and-tele story, and gradually realized the tele could do a lot more. Somewhat later, I found a good deal on a new Korean tele, early 90s I think, and picked it up. Until I traded it on some bass equipment, missed it and bought a new ASe in 2001 as a replacement. So I guess I've only ever played teles, but lately I been wanting something with two humbuckers, maybe take a stab at learning slide.
