Very beautiful guitar. I really like the Jags. Did you get the Japanese or American version?

Its the 'Crafted in Japan' model, i got such a great deal on it that i couldnt pass up. (£420 brand new - they NEVER sell for that low in the UK). An American one would be nice i guess, but this is actually really cool and it sounds great:) Gonna replace the bridge with a mustang one though, the saddles on the jag bridge are rubbish for keeping the strings in.

I owned... well, I still own a Japanese made Jazzmaster until my guitarist pays me for it. GREAT guitars! With some Duncans... I think they're better than new US models. A vintage one is another story.... but hey.

Thanks for the compliments guys. As i say, i'd wanted a jag ever since i started playing(4 years ago) so you can imagine how much i love this thing!

Well, it sounds great :) Im sure if i had a tube amp, the cleans would sound much nicer than they already do, but yeh it sounds great. And through a fuzz pedal...gorgeous, its awesome!

It still retains that fender clean sound, but with a different tone to the usual strat/tele sounds(not that they're bad). I really like it, and im sure id like it more if i got to play it through a fender tube amp :) Ive set it up with 11's, and i think thats the perfect gauge for it-not hard to bend(because of the scale) and still give a 'fuller' sound.

    Beautiful guitar.

If they made a 25.5 scale Jag, I'd give up my teles. (maybe)

    Re: New Jaguar(pics)

I definitely love the colour! I was in love whit the red finish with the matching headstock, but when I bought mine, that colour was discontinued, so I took her (what, can't I refer to my jag as an her?? ;-) ) in sunburst, went back again in the shop some months later...and the red one was there!! Anyway, to me the jag/jmaster bridge sucks, I replaced it with a tune-o-matic bridge, and it's definitely better...and,uhm, 11 gauge strings? I don't know...I think they're well for a les paul, but with a jag...I know, the sound is a personal factor and if you want more sustain, a bigger sound, they're great, but I placed 009-49 inchs strings on that, so I can "respect" the charachter of the fender p-ups, but with fuller basses...how about that?

    Seriously old thread alert.....

After seeing Wilco recently, I find myself wanting a Jazzmaster....

Hoping in the Way-Back machine, "Nice Guitar!" Never had a Jag, but I like the retro look and all them switches add to teh cool...

Well, all dem switches and chrome look cool, but I could never negotiate that aircraft control panel.

I'd end up ripping all the crap out underneath, and wiring single volume and tone and on/off for each pickup.

At least a Jazzmaster has a 3-way switch.

    How does Vince do it?

Yeah, I've played a few, and liked the various sounds all the swiches yield.
But I could never remember what "flick-this-roll-that" combinations made what happen.
    But they're damn cool.
And I really like the Jag/JM vibrato too.

Do they call it a "tremolo" on these too?
