Newporter case worth repairing?

Wanted to find out a bit more about this guitar, and get some opinions on what to do with this case.

I picked this guitar up over the summer with a cracked bridge. Based on my research, it appears to be a mid-60's Anaheim built instrument. But I've found a lot of different info about these instruments and would like to confirm. All I've really learned is Fender didn't make these guitars in CA for very long.

Guitar came with this chipboard case, which is in very poor shape. Can anyone tell me if this case is original to this instrument, or if it's just an old chipboard case? I'm on the fence as to whether to repair it, or toss it. If it's original I'll repair it; I have a sewing machine heavy enough to sew the chipboard used for these cases.

Guitar is mostly for home playing; any gigging with it would be light-duty campfire / worship use, so the case doesn't need to be great.

Perusing my collection of vintage Fender catalogs from the era, I'm not seeing anything like the case depicted in your photos. My guess would be that it's merely a generic type that could've come from anywhere. Better to spend your time and $$$ on a new one that would actually protect the instrument. It's a nice specimen worth preserving.

Thanks; haven't been able to find any information about cases for these guitars and given the rough condition of the instrument, assumed it was just a random case it'd been thrown into to haul around by prior owner.

My daughter has a beater classical guitar that she's taken to college; I may patch it up for her to use there. She can throw some new stickers on it or something ;)
