    C30's are the Sland

We were asked to do a set at an all star jam this week. Backline provided. When I get there I see a C30. Yoink! I set it to all 5's and then turned off the reverb. Told the soundman how I wanted it mic'ed and played the show. Owner of the amp comes up to me and raves about its sound said he never got it to sound anywhere near that good.

I simply told him' "turn off the reverb and add it back in post."

What great little amps these are. Every time I play one I smile! I can see why everyone from Nile Rodgers to SRV raved about them. Mine is a real road warrior, an old beaten tweed one that I don't play very often but the new ones are remarkably the same as the old ones. Whenever I have to play through one it's like running into an old friend.

I like to describe them as a 65DR's slutty cousin who isn't afraid to get dirty.

The sland has more local roots... Back in old times somebody posted a thread entitled "the island of something" (unloved toys?) but misspelled island and The Sland was born!

    Same deal with phtots!

Ah yes. Back in the era of phtots, a beloved term that traces back to similar origins.

I'm surprised we haven't replaced the venerable and dismissive "Pfffff!" sound with the newer Tff! sound. It could happen!
