    need to brighten neck pickup

I just installed a 4-way in my Tele, which I really like. The cap used on the Tone control makes the bridge a little darker, which I like for solos. But it makes the neck a little too dark for me. Is there a way to add another cap for the neck only to brighten it up without adding brightness to the bridge?

I'm not sure how to do it electronically, but there's probably a way. If the neck pickup has a cover, I'd remove it and see if that brightens it a bit. Some darken the tone more than others.

It's a Dimarzio Area T neck. Dimarzio says that the cover does not alter the tone whatsoever. I may just look for another neck pickup that's a bit brighter.

    Thanks -

Have you tried raising or lowering the pup?

I seem to recall something about a treble bleed circuit that might help.

found it. do a google search for 'treble bleed for tele neck pickup' and there's a seymourduncan forum thread about it. I'd link it here if that's ok with the mods. got it bookmarked to find it again.

melody: Yes, I've raised and lowered the pickup. It's still too dark.

Dan: I will look it up.

    Thanks!

That generally means the volume pot value is too low for the pickup.
You could also switch to nickel strings if you haven't or try steel if you already have nickel.
