    Oh, dare I??

    The itch has begun...

    "...pray do not imagine that those who make the noise are the only inhabitants of the field;
that, of course, they are many in number; or that, after all, they are other than the little,
shriveled, meagre, hopping, though loud and troublesome, insects of the hour."

Yes! I add some common modern improvements, but always trying to stay true to the original.

    Many thanks!

If I go down this path, you TFF'ers will be privy to the documented progress.

    Still in the planning phases.

Going straight-up repro, though. Thinking about trying a Weber 10F150T in this one.

Looking to end up in a 1x10" config in the end.

    Do it! Now!

my advice (if you want it) get J taper pots for the volume and treble if you want it to behave like an old PR. I put them back n my Mojotone PR kit and they transformed it from an amp that I thought was just okay to one that I really like a lot. I know it's just psychological- just numbers on a dial, but it worked for me.

You, of ALL people, should know that you're in the WRONG place to get talked out of building this! Seriously! We all love looking at the amps you build!!! Your meticulous attention to detail is second to none.

Are you going to use metal film resistors ?

I use carbon film resistors - metal oxide for the HV areas.

    Re: Oh, dare I??

Okay, I'm leaning back towards the scratch build.

For the same money as the '68 Custom PR I can build out a hand-wired,
    scratch built BFPR Repro.

In studying the schematics, the 68 Custom PR only has a few component differences from stock; the -FB resistor is twice the value of stock, resulting in a lower -FB voltage and more gain/grit...plus a pair of coupling caps are changed from .1uf to .02uF. Otherwise, it's all the same.

I figure I can swap those components pretty easily, and experiment with speakers to suit.

Well, that wouldn't be very repro-like then!

I put a 250k mids/raw pot in the ground switch hole of my Mojo PR clone. It's about as badass as an otherwise stock PR can be. It's like an 18db boost when you crank it! It'll vibrate right off of an amp stand! I recommend that you try it.

I'd love a Porch Weasel-style like Roger had but with Reverb...

A SFPR in a head box with a 1x10/1x12 combo cabinet, in the SF look. Would be killer!

I have a couple of cabs for a Porch Weasel that I've been meaning to finish the covering for...hmmm...
