A friend load me this junky cheap amp...
An 70's Ampeg GU-12.
He said it sounds bad and got it cheap and does not like it much.
It's AWESOME!!!
I need to give it back to him... I'm getting way too attached to it...

ampegs have a way of sounding sweet. they've got their own tone and once you're hooked, well, you're hooked.

I have an old VT-22 that a friend of mine gave me. It needs some work, but I haven't had the time nor the funds to fool with it in recent years. It may be time to start this project.

Yep - gotta love the Ampegs - either blue check, or 70's.
While I was in the city yesterday, I found a hat that had a smiliar weave to Ampeg cbeck-cloth, so I had to buy it.

Ampegs have their own thing going on. I find I like those 70s versions better than the ones Gibson was putting out then.

I totally dig the old Ampegs.

1960 Ampeg Jet 12 - all original (except for grounded power cord), vies with my DRRI as my go to amp.

I second the Jet! I think HOG has about 12 of them hiding out on the left side of the stage. Should be able to get one reasonable

Old Jets and nice and compact. A great grab-and-go amp.
Ampegs with the single tone knob are sort of like tweed fenders with reverb and trem. The ones with bass and tone knobs have their own thing going on.

The HoG would rather hold onto them forever than sell them for a reasonable price...even though I've bought some guitars there for a very reasonable price...the vintage gear they like to hold onto...

I know the feeling. I want that Moderne that they have. It's one of the only Gibson production runs, in '82 or thereabouts. I feel like my life would be complete if I had one of those plus Korina/natural finish reissues of the other McCarty/'58 designs (Flying V and Explorer) but I will likely never have that kind of kwan....

Ampeg is putting out a new line of guitar amps this summer. The all-tube GVT series. Nice.

I just bought me a new Ampeg Portaflex bass head & cab a few weeks ago. Sweet Ampeg heaven! Couldn't be happier.
