    What is it?

Check out this You Tube clip of Lance Keltner playing slide on a mystery guitar through a Reeves 30 watter:

Anyone know what the Jag style single P90 git he's playing is?

I'm intrigued. That axe is a sweet take Fender/Gibson hybrid.

    It's this:

    The P-90 is a Wolfetone.

    Sweet thanks!

Now I'm tortured they are approaching the 2K mark.

Never heard of Spanish Cedar on a solid body either. Only ever seen it used on lower cost acoustics and the newer Melody Maker necks.

I see they have some specials on their site. Guess it's time to start saving pennies and selling off some of the less desirables.

Yeah, salty for sure... but you could wire that pickup into a a PRS Soapy II and get that tone... with that amp. :)

Or put a couple into a Fender Toranado or Strat-o-Sonic.

i think refin has used some Wolfetones.

    Re: What is it?

You think it's more just the pup than pup/wood combo?

I had a mint single pup Strat-O-Sonic but never bonded with it. Maybe a pup change was in order.

What about an '05 JR or SG Classic? You think the Wolfetones would have the same tone in a Mahogany?

And Reeves is just up the street from me. I've been drooling over the Custom 30 for years now. Never can find a deal on one thru the 'bay. That in itself speaks volumes.

Wow. Today is the day for interesting hybrid designs. This one popped up in a thread across the hall today. I love the look of the components. No idea what it sounds like

I honestly think that when it comes to a solid body, the wood has almost no effect compared to the effect of the pickup and the amp.

I think the resonance of the wood can certainly affect sustain, string tone, etc., but those are factors that can't be predicted by wood species. As long as the string really rings out, then a given pickup will sound a certain way with any given signal chain and amp.

I don't think that cedar makes that guitar sound the way it does. Many would disagree, but that's my experience.

Thanks silent i, I think I'll call Wolfetone and see what they say the output of that pup was and see about ordering one for the JR. A $100 dollar investment is much more palatable.

Clay, that does look interesting. The PX6 is also pretty cool. Looks like a cross between a 'bird and Jag.

I'm also really digging this design, particularly the ones that have the German carve on the top. I'm kind of torn between the SP6 and the RB6:
