    That new gigbag smell!!

Just picked up a gigbag for a guitar I'm cutting loose.
It was in a plastic bag taped shut, so I didn't notice the smell.
Mmmm... fresh Chinese nylon, vinyl trim, fabric dye and polyrazzmatazz padding.

I can't be in the same room with it. Gives me a headache. I'm pretty sensitive to stuff like this.
I left in the back of the truck overnight. And now it's strapped to a step ladder basking in the unseasonably warm late October sun.
Hopefully cooking off the industrial aroma.

Any other tips on how to deodorize this thing?
    It's brutal.

I bought a G&G case recently and I have no idea how old it is, smells so wonderfull and it still has that Fender new smell on it!
It is for my Gold on Gold Strat from the early eighties and this thing is realy road worn and sweat and beared all over, the combination off the guitar and case are killing!
No way to get this smell out off the guitar or case, simply imposible.

I've had hardshell cases that smelled great too.
One for an Epiphone Sorrento that had a citrus smell. My Guild case smelled nice too.
I never tried unaromafy either one.

    But this is awful.
Imagine, say, a poorly ventilated tire store with a dab of something like kerosine behind each ear.
    I may just return it.

You wrote that it was for a guitar that is going away so let the new owner decide if he likes the smell or not! and keep it out off the house untill the guitar is ready to sent.

Fabreeze and dryer sheets help, too (once you're done airing it out).
Tone is in the fingers, eh? Let's hear your Vox, Marshall and Fender fingerings then...

Fabreeze? Yuck! That stuff often smells worse than the offending odor!

Make sure that it's propped open while airing out.

Smells better than the stale cigarette smoke I'd otherwise be smelling...

Yeah. This isn't just an odor. It's more like outgassing.
It's wide open out in the sun now.
