    Show us your #1!

    No...not your latest urine test...

I'm talkin' about your main axe. Your favorite, your never-let-it-go, your numero uno. Show us one...only one...the one of yours that you'd pick to show every time.

    Well, you get the hint.

Anyway, I just realized that I've been hangin' out here for a while, and never posted pics of my #1 (well, my one and ONLY). So here it is...

My Candy Apple Red MIM Deluxe Series (eBay assembly, actually, but made sure I kept it all MIM for the sake of...well...something). I've got Texas Specials in it, and play .12ga strings with a wound 3rd.

What I love most about it: the factory-produced flame maple neck...can't say I've seen many MIMs with one.

It's my only Strat, but I love it and can't stop playing it.

I never said anything in the rules that it had to be a Strat...I'm callin' you out cuz you posted TWO!

Although, with two beauts like those, I'd be hard pressed to pick one as The One.

    LOL!

Actually, if I had to have only one guitar, it would be my L-5.

My friend John is playing it here:

    This is my #1,

When I first aquired this guitar I thought it would only be a collectable. Then I plugged it in and fell in love the first time I played it, I gig with it. It came with a mojo that people swear they feel when they touch it. The build and setup begs to be played. This is #0 of the 21 Charley's that were made. The 0 has a story, this was the first one made and the guitar is un-numbered, the other 20 were number 1-20. This one was owned by the owner of Charley's and this guitar has been played by a long list of famous Guitar Players, while Charley's had it.

    BADness...that kicks tail!

Stevie played that one almost exclusively during the 1985 Montreux concert. Really dug that; his stuff with Johnny Copeland was great.

I could have done without the white squirrel-tail hat, though.

I love Tin Pan Alley with Johnny, it's awesome.
Stevie had a crazy sense of fashion. I got to experiance a collection of SRV's stuff and his clothes were wild and small, he was a small guy with huge hands and even bigger heart and soul.

Tommy Shannon said, when asked how tall Stevie was, "I know that I was taller than Stevie, except then he got pissed. Then he would puff up to reach the height of seven feet. Therefore, he would be taller than me. Chris was shorter than Stevie. Thus, it is my belief, resulting from scientific investigation and innate curiosity, that I am taller than Chris."

Well my #1 Strat is this one. It started life as a USA Elite model with a ebony board. I've since added a pickguard/pickup assembly from a Lone Star strat.

This here is my baby...my #1

    she's a 1980 Gibson Firebrand SG.
PUs are Dimarzio PAF classic in neck, Duncan Alnico 1 in bridge, refretted maybe 6 years ago, getting near time for a new dressing.
It was the first electric guitar I owned, I've had it 15 years now (oh, my god, has it been that long?!?!?!?)

    Re: Show us your #1!

I fell in love with this model strat when I first bought one on ebay a couple of years ago. It was a 1984 Strat Plus Deluxe and was in mint condition. I loved the blueburst finish and while I may be in the minority, I also like "noiseless" pickups. Shortly thereafter (to show my wife a thing or two) I sold it out of spite and have regretted it ever since. So to make a short story long I've been scouring ebay for another in mint conditon and finally found this one. It's a 1995, and it came with all the case candy and protective film still on the pickguard and trem cover. I will never make the same mistake with this guitar!

At any given time, a different guitar is my #1 for picking up and playing at home. Currently I'm picking up my Tele the most.

But for gigging, my '94 Custom Shop Les Paul Standard is always my "#1":

This would be my current 'go to' guitar for a gig or rehearsal. I have a hard time calling it my #1, though. It's my '03 Vintage Player '60's. Sonic Blue w/ Texas Specials

Here ya go, NT. The 'hamburgler' necks were the result of using photo flame. In the 'grain' was a clearly visible likeness of the hamburgler. Most believe it's an accident, but there were rumors floating around that it was done on purpose. I don't recall the stories, maybe someone else will.

Number one is on the right - my old Ibanez customised by myself. Only the neck - bar the headstock paint - is original. The other 2 tie for second place, 2005 MIM strat and 71 LP custom

Ahhh...thanks! Since I'm totally ignorant to that piece of Fender history (maybe I'll be put up for a dumbass award for it?), I was a little frightened that my seemingly "good score" was really my getting fooled.

Thanks for the clarification on that, guys.

My MIM IS the real flame maple deal after all. Wooo!
