What effect does changing the capacitor that is connected from the tone pot to ground have? The standard single knob circuit calls for anywhere from a .01uf (old tv front deluxe) to the more "standard" .0047uf (5E3, 5F2A etc.).

I subbed a .022uf for a .01 and seemed to have LESS tone control (not as dark at the low end).

Is this not working like a guitar tone control where the higher the value, the darker the tone?

What am I missing?
