'73 P bass refret -- what kind of frets?

    Hey all.

My bass player has finally come up with the dough to have his beloved '73 P-bass refretted (it has the original frets and wow, are they worn down).

I'm taking it to a top notch luthier in these heah parts but I'm curious as to what the long-time P or J bass players feel would be the 'best' type of fret for the refret. Vintage? Something a bit larger like 6105's or 'medium' jumbos? Is there a 'usual upgrade' in this area or is OEM just fine?

FWIW, he uses flatwounds and fingers. Just straight into his G&K amp.

    thanks for the input.
Tone is in the fingers, eh? Let's hear your Vox, Marshall and Fender fingerings then...

to be brutally honest, i can't really tell the difference on bass. guitars i can, but not bass.

i'd suggest something on the med to low side since his frets are so worn to begin with, he's probably used to it.

Since bass is pretty straight up (no bending, ect.),low frets are good.........just tall enough to intonate the note.
