I just read, on another forum, that Ted Weber has passed away! I have no official confirmation of this.

Wow. I know he had health problems. That would really be very bad news. He was really huge in the gear market. If this is true, and I guess it probably is, then I gotta say it sucks!
I used to go over to the Webervst forum - a very good forum.
Ted even answered an email from me about a speaker once, but i sent him another email to too long ago and there was no reply.
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.

Man, I'm so sorry to hear that. Ted really was one of the good guys. Always tried to help out, he even emailed me a free PT (of my choice!) when a guy I built an amp for blew his with a dodgy outlet and I replaced it with one of my amps'; free shipping to Scotland!
RIP Ted.
Yeah that Sucks. Spoke to Ted a few times. Very Knowledgable and friendly and helpful. He built a few things for me exactly the way I wanted. What a cool dude and a great inventor.
Yes, it's true. The guy was a genius. I really mean that. Not only did he have the monster technical know-how, he also had an uncanny ability to think outside the box and view things from his own fresh perspective, always thinking "why not?" Separate and apart from the loss to his family, I don't see how the company will be the same. His committment to quality was everything to him.

Oh no!!!
Dealt with him and his business a lot. I always feel good about my product because I use his. What a fine legacy he left us with:
Man, oh man. Thoughts and prayers out from North Texas.

I have a Weber product and yes Ted made himself accessible in case of problems.
Sad news. I have had many Weber products over the years and have spoken to him more than once. He was always helpful and friendly.
RIP, Ted.
Tone is in the fingers, eh? Let's hear your Vox, Marshall and Fender fingerings then...
That is sad news. I'm another that has always had good dealings with his company, though I never spoke with him personally. I hope his company can continue and live up to his legacy.

This is a huge loss for the DIY community. I've bought a lot of products from Ted and dealt with him on many occasions. I will miss him and my thoughts and prayers go out to his extended family.
sad news. i too use Weber speakers. great product from a great guy.
Never had a chance or the need to talk to him, but see this everywhere, that he was responsive to the questions of his customers.
The only thing neg I have ever seen is the quality of components, but he was entirely up front, wishing to make the hobby affordable.
RIP Ted, I sent my business your way and recommended you many times over.
And never had a missed quantity or back order problem for all the oddball things I asked for.
Unlike a few other places I will mention later.
This is indeed sad news. I only spoke with Ted on one occassion, and he was extremely helpful. As others have said, he was one of the "good one's". I've used many of his products, and always felt like I came out ahead by doing so. As Cygnus said, even in the areas where certain components were of a less than optimim quality, he would be straight and up front about it, even offering the option of not purchasing those components (when included in a kit).
My condolences to his extended family, and I hope the Weber product line continues well into the future. Ted's reputation and well earned respect certainly will live on in the memory of everyone who knew him or had the pleasure of dealing with him.
RIP Ted. Your products are the best. You have brought the ability to have the old stuff new again with the reproductions and were a shining star in the music community.
I assume his son will continue with the business....?????

Thanks for the link Gris.
RIP Ted. You were a great friend for the twenty years I knew you.

The Weber website now has a message posted along with this image (I hope they don't mind me linking to it):
It seems that they have maintained their sense of humor through this. The message indicates that they have every intention of carrying on the business just as Ted has run it.

That was Ted in retirement from Delphi. Somehow between all the doctor visits and trips to the hospital, he got that all done.
I'm not sure what the product development plans are from this point. I'm sure TA's thought about it, but it's not like I have any insight into this.

And it also looks like Ted was very hands on with every aspect of the operations, so I'm wondering if its even safe to order stuff.
Perhaps I'll wait a few weeks and see how things seem to be shaking out.
I attempted to join the website Webervst again with my new Email address and as of yet i have not recoverd authorization, but it may be a littel soon for Business as usual.

Great article, Kap'n. Thanks for sharing.
I didn't know him, but I already miss him.

I love my Sig 12S. Thanks for everything Ted.
Just saw this. What a surprise and loss. Like a lot of you I've done business with Ted, had him personally respond to several emails about speakers and make recommendations. Bought several speakers from him and my 5e3x2 kit.
RIP Ted.

Here's a piece of irony:
Ordered some stuff a few days ago from Weber.
Got them today, and they normally use pages from the
Kokomo Tribune for packing material.
Well, there it was, the front section from that day, same
one Kap'n posted.
My wife saw it while I was unpacking and sorting.
She asked "Do you want to keep this"?
"Of course", I told her.
TA sent me this link today

TA hints at several stories Ted told me that I can't really expand upon.

My Weber California 15" was in transit when I read this news here on TFF. It's an excellent speaker. I intend to play it loud and proud as a tribute.

Cool link Kap'n.
