Got that mag too. Did the mod to my Strat and it's amazing! It's the tone I've been searching for and I love it. Gonna do the mod to my LP next.

True! It is a good scheme though. It's the first thing that I recommend when someone wants to install one of those horrible sounding treble bleed caps!

Good mod for a strat.. Try it you may like it and it's easily reversible if you don't.

So what is your opinion what it did to your Strat, reading the article it will make it sound brighter.

    Re: 50's Gibson/Strat wiring mod

I recently wired my AmSe HT with 50s wiring and it is a definite improvement. Not that the guitar is brighter per se, but when I roll down the volume the tone does not change as drastically as it did previously.

Now I can actually roll down the volume without feeling the need to adjust the tone knobs. It really just maintains the tone setting when turning down the volume better than standard wiring.

It's the best nearly free mod I've come across.

So Don, this is the route to go vs an R-C circuit, on the vol pot ? I've got the basic Lindy Fralin blender set-up. Hate to start messing with those connections unless there is a good reason. Just looking for an opinion. Art

If you use a fuzz pedal and control the dirt with the guitar's volume control, this "'50s wiring" sounds much better than a treble bleed circuit.

Thanks ! Actually it's straight into a BF amp or with a stand alone reverb unit.

It's very inexpensive to experiment if you do the soldering yourself. You counld try a variety of treble bleed circuits as well as the '50s style wiring.
