Has anyone used an old Nady wireless? I tried a shure! Fantastic

I'm just wondering about the quality & tone? I've tried the new Line6 stuff, sounds very good, but it's cheaply made. I'd like a shure or sennheiser, but at $450 or more I can't justify it.

I found a local guy that has a Nady system that's about 10 years old. He said he paid $250 back then. It's only been used a handful of times.

So was Nady every good years ago? Seems the new ones are junk.

    Any comments?

I tried them years ago,I thought they had a weak input and sounded thin.

I'm still impressed with my Line6 unit. No issues with it yet, but that wasn't the question.

I tried an old Nady and a relatively new Nady in my search, both were less than impressive. One of the issues was when the transmitter was turned off, the base unit would pick up lots of static while searching for another signal. Aside from that, it just sounded dynamically flat, as if I were using a bad compressor all of the time. Neither of the two units impressed me at all.
    POO DAT!!!

We used one from a few years ago, and it was useless. The Shure stuff has worked very well. Remember to stay away from the 700mhz range if you buy used, those frequencies are expected to get very crowded.

I have never used a wireless that didn't wash the tone some.

Well, as predicted. I tried out the unit and it had plenty of interference, static, buzzes, pops.

    I passed.

The line 6 unit I have went through 3 batteries in my last gig, Mabye there's just something wrong with my wireless unit.

Would still like to find a used Sennheiser or Shure.

I had a Nady Wireless 3D I thought sounded great. I bought a few different wireless units from GC and returned them all but the 3D. Then Nady came out with a new model that you could switch channels, I think it was called Gold or something like that. It sucked tone big-time.

Old wireless is bad wireless. Just like old teevees and cell phones.
    Several guitars in different colors
    Things to make them fuzzy
    Things to make them louder
    orange picks

    C'mon Kap'n, Tube TV's are far superior, tone-wise.

    Just an update for ya.

I spent a little time on the phone with a shure rep. I wanted to know about the current PGX14 wireless system compared to the PG & older series units.

One of the models I asked about was the UT4A reciever. This really got the tech going. He told me if I could find a used one and could work with the fixed freq. that the UT4A is a fantastic unit and sounds better that the UT4 & current PGX. The UT4A was produced 2003 & 2004 and the circuit used later developed into the current ULX series. This unit was produced in the USA also. The new PGX is not.

I compared it side by side with the Line 6 wireless and it sounded fantastic, and the freq response is 20-16k, so I assume it would work well for bass also. I tested the battery life also. I used a CTA 9v rechargeable (325ma). The single charge lasted 11 hours.

I really couldn't ask for much more from this wireless system. They sell used on the bay for around $125. It's just a super deal. Check it out.
