    Popping Strings

    Do you guys have this problem?

    I keep having the high E & B strings pop out of the tuning head slot while winding the string around the post.

    Any tips gents?

    You're talking about Kluson style tuners, right? I can't see what you're experiencing but it sounds like maybe you're not putting the end of the string down in the little hole in the middle of the slot.

    And no, I didn't mean for that to sound naughty.
    s'all goof.

    I just guide it with may hand 'til it's tight enough to stay in.

    Usually I cut the string to length, stick it in the hole and and pull one wrap around the post and pull the string as I wind it til it's tight.

    It feels like one big motion. I've been doing it so long this is the most I've thought about it in years. I use a plastic crank.

    Sometimes, I have to do one wrap around one of the slot sides before going around the full post.
    "...pray do not imagine that those who make the noise are the only inhabitants of the field;
    that, of course, they are many in number; or that, after all, they are other than the little,
    shriveled, meagre, hopping, though loud and troublesome, insects of the hour."
