    My new Tele-The sx

I refinished it in Mary Kay Blond, recut the headstock to my favorite shape and replaced the pups, pots, switch and bridge. I made a new pick guard and added threaded inserts to the neck joint. This project was a lot of work and time, much more than I thought it would be so I tip my hat to all the guys that do this all the time.

    Geez that looks swell!

I like the contours on that body -- does it have the tummy cut at the rear as well?

Definitely a looker -- howzit sound?

The bag is just a gear bag not for guitars. The guitar has a belly cut as well. I haven't got to playing yet. When I fired it up something was wrong with the wireing so I had to go back in and I haven't got it rewired yet.

Nice. Who would have guessed an SX had wood worth exposing.

The SX is a brand from Rondo. This body is ash and I was quite surprised when I opened the box to find a very nice piece of wood. That when I decided to do the trans blond finish instead of what I was going to do. This finish has a few bad spots in it that don't show on camera but I am pretty happy with it for a first time finisher.

I bet if I worked at it for years I couldn't do that well.

That's a sharp-dressed Tele. I like the dots--very classy. It's easy to be snobbish about Rondo, but it looks like you've got a great piece there. Would love to hear how it sounds when you get it up and going.

Looks great! How does it play? A buddy of mine recently got an SX Strat copy so he'd have something to noodle around on at work during lunch. He seemed pretty pleased with the quality.

can someone answer this guys question?
a questions mark denotes a question...
an exclamation point denotes shock or surprise...
and then the question mark brings the question back into the equation

That's got to be the one. Nice heavy grain on that ash body! But 53's refin job makes me wish they made it in Mary Kaye blonde.

I don't think you can beat a $120 starting point for a guitar like 53's! Again, beautiful work!

I have been talking about the SX Basses for quite a while now.....and was the first kid on my block with one of the upgraded Agiles.

You did a real justice to this though......ok-good out of the box, but this.....WOW! Nice job.

The bound neck is kinda' sexy.

It could be an optical delusion, but it seems to make the neck look thick.

The neck is not any wider than a standard Tele beck but is rather thick, kinda like a Broadcaster baseball bat neck.

That's what I meant. Front to back.
How was the fretwork on it?

The body turned out great, BTW.

Someone in my area has done some shoddy work on some Rondo Strat. Reshaping and painting the headstock.
A few of them turned up at a shop in Stamford. Those actually have skinny necks.

The fret work was surprisingly good for a budget guitar. I only cleaned up the ends a little and polished the frets. They turned out rather nice and slick.

Just an up date. I can't play any more because of my hearing but a friend took the guitar to a gig and was very impressed with the guitar. He now wants me to make one for him. I may just give him this one, he is a good guy that has helped me out many times and loves this guitar and can play the poop out of it.
