    Opinions needed please..........

I am looking at buying a compressor/sustain pedal. I play country, country-rock. On the lower end of the scale, is any one using or familiar with the Electro Harmonix Soul Preacher? I can get one of these for a hundred bucks canadian, or i can get a Boss CS for 129.00 Cana. . What are your opinions? Thanks in advance. Td.

I don't know about the new ones, but the old ones were noisy and squishy.

There's a used one at the music store where I work, and it doesn't do nice things to your tone...if you want a better sound for not a lot of bucks, look into getting a Dynacomp. Or, for more tweakability, the Boss is your sauce...

FWIW, I had the EH Nano small stone, and I traded it even up for a used Phase 90. LOADS better tone...the mxr stuff trumps the EH stuff, IMO, most of the time...Big Muff Pi is the notable exception.

I like the Boss for country. It has a nice "whack" on the attack. I set it to overdrive the on the attack and then sweeten up on the decay.

OSA is right. Lotsa country tracks cut with the Boss. I've had both the Boss and the MXR and both are great. The Boss is a bit more transparent...stay away from the DigiTech/DOD stuff - it suxxx!

Dyna Comp or the Barber Tone Press. The Barber does parallel compression. Very cool.

I personally don't think the Boss CS pedals are in the same league as a Keeley Compressor (though I'd take a CS-2 over a CS-3).
Tone is in the fingers, eh? Let's hear your Vox, Marshall and Fender fingerings then...

Hud, I thought of that, too - seeing as how Brad Paisley uses the Keeley stuff and he's got such a great Tele tone...but aren't the Keeley-branded pedals quite expensive?

Guys, just picked up a Boss CS-3 ......... any tips on settings would be appreciated. I play my am. st. tele through a hrd. Just for kics, here's my line. Arion tuner, into Cs-3 > Boss OD-1 > danelectro chorus > BossDD-3 > volume pedal .... Jammed with 3 buddies yesterday, and played with the settings as i went. But wasn't quite "getting it".......... thanks for replies. td.
