I want different tuning gears on American std.

I really prefer the Gotoh vintage style. I'd have to get those bushings and drill those little holes for the screws in the back. Are there any tuners that are direct replacement or easier swap?

I just don't like these American strat gears, they don't feel precise plus I really like not having a sharp string end sticking out because of my little ones.

I don't think so. The only direct swap I know of are the locking versions of the same.

I did this on a Hwy1 Strat. It was an easy mod. Well worth the effort.

Don, did you notice any change in tone at all since the Kluson style are less mass? But then again the bushings probably add a little weight.

Not really. The conversion bushings barely weigh more than the regular Kluson style bushings. The Klusons, even with the conversion bushings weigh less than the stock tuners.

I did it for the looks and the slotted posts.
