    Speaker screw stripped out.....

I was changing the OEM speaker in my HRD and noticed that one of the bottom screws was not tight---and as I suspected; it is stripped out......when putting the new speaker in; this bottom left screw will not grab and tighten....ideas how to fix this? Do the holes have a metal sleeve or something inside as the screws seem to be metal type screws; not wood screws?? Maybe just get a wood screw of like dimension or just a bit bigger and same depth wood screw and just screw it in?

    Ideas??

Maybe the HRD uses t-nuts. Did it get pushed out before the screw grabbed? See if you can feel something through the grill.

    Yep, they do have t-nuts!

However, you'll have to remove the grillcloth to get a replacement in. There might be a way to sneak one in by reaching through the speaker hole and under the grillcloth, and you'll need to take care in hammering the new one back in.

They're easily found at any hardware store.

shriveled, meagre, hopping, though loud and troublesome, insects of the hour."

I usually put a big washer on the screw side and draw the new t-nut into the wood with a screw until it's fully home - a little dab of glue on the tangs of t-nut also helps to stop it falling out again - I found that one was cross-threaded at the factory when I replaced the stock drivers in my Dv - carefully knocked the old one out with an old blunt 5mm drill bit (making sure you don't injure the grillcloth) and did as above - should be easy enough to carefully reach in between the baffle and grillcloth to get the old one out and a new one it place...
