    New Martin today!!!

Well I bought a really nice Martin today (my first!). It's one from a special run built just for Guitar Center. It's model number is GC MMV. Here's the deal though...This one is magic! I played it against every guitar in the Flint Guitar Center acoustic room and... it won. It was even better than their D-28! I'm not saying it's the best guitar everywhere, but definitely the best voiced guitar in that room. Then I went around to all of the other Michigan Guitar Centers (they're all pretty close to my home or work except for one out by RUDutch's place and I went there Saturday!). I couldn't find another MMV that was as good anywhere! This guitar is so tonally balanced and it projects amazingly. I scored it for $1150 out the door with a case, humidifier, and strap. Sounds even better in my house!!!

    Here's the obligitory pic!!!

Thanks man! Up until now, the best acoustic I've ever owned was a Takamine Jasmine! What an improvement!

I'll have to try to find a better pic hosting site. Sorry. Fezz hates this one too!

I think maybe you should name the guitar "Chopper."

Congrats on a great guitar; looks great.

I LOVE Martins and have had my D15 (all mahogany) for something like 12 years now. Though the D15 ain't much to look at, IMO, it has perfect sound and playability. Someday, I'll spring for a vintage D18.

Yeah, they are definitely a cut above. I got to play RUDutch's when I was out visiting him. His was a few years old (I don't remember which model) but sounded fantastic. I guess they really open up more as they age!

Have you guys seen the Martin factory tour videos on the MF site? Pretty fun and informative. They'll make you want a Martin, though.

    Re: New Martin today!!!

i took the factory tour....maybe 4-5 yrs ago.
it was amazing!....now i'm sure they all make it look good during the tour, but it seriously reminded me of Santas workshop...asses and elbows everywhere!!...so were old ladies, everywhere, working, inlaying those MOP purflings and borders.

then at the end, seeing a wallful of brandnew martins that had to sit there for 3 days in their new cases to make sure they 'acclimated'.

...and you get a free 'soundhole' cutout to take home.

    was tres cool
