    2 pt trem replace with 6 holeVintage Trem?

    Im not loving my Wilknson 2pt. Trem on my Walnut Warmoth Strat. I wanna get rid of it if possible.What does a converion back to 6 hole Vintage Start trem entail? Has anyone done it? I'm wondering how to get the blasted studs out- I'm certain That I would have it done by a luthier though. What does he do? Does he drill the studs out, dowell the wood and install the 6 screw vintage trem? Thanks

    some info. i found out;
    ....."Yes, I meant pull the bushings. I heat them up (30s - 1 min) with a solder
    pencil, then quickly screw in a stud and pull it out by hand. They come out
    easy on most import guitars. Wait a day for the wood to go back to normal
    before putting the new ones in. If the bushings are not the same size
    you'll need to redrill the hole for it"

    What is it that you are looking to accomplish by moving from a two-point to a six-point trem?

    I dont like two point. Never did. I bought a guitar with a two point system and I loathe it. Besides that its ok.

    Is it THAT two point trem in particular? Try an AM Std? I think it will fit without modification.

    The only thing I can say is that you will need to take out the bushings, fill the holes, and redrill the holes, not to mention that the string spacing will be different. A cheaper route will probably be to get another body drilled for the 6 screw bridge.

    Probably be a lot less trouble to just buy a new body with the trem you want. Might even be cheaper than taking it to a luthier and having him pull the bushings, fill the holes, drill new holes, etc.

    Never tried it and don't have any interest in it but I think Callaham makes a retro fit for what you want

    IMO it's best to have both Vintage style and 2 point Strats.
