    LP Junior SCORE!!!

Just scored a brand new Billy Joe Armstrong Lester Junior for $800 out the door with OHSC. These things are going for $1400 at the usual suspects! I'm not big on signature models, but this one is finished in vintage sunburst and visually, you really can't tell it from a regular Jr. What a player! Man, this guitar has a nice feel and she rings out really nice (must be the stop bar)! It's got an H-90 pickup which is supposed to be a special humbucking version of the P-90 made just for this guitar. It sounds good, but is a little dark. I may go with a real P-90, pots, caps, and wire from a Jr to give her a bit more bite. Then I can set the original parts aside in case I ever sell her. Today's my wife's 40th birthday , but Happy New Guitar Day to me!!!
...and on the 8th day, God created the Super Reverb and there was ROCK, and it was GOOD!

Grats! I recently played one of those, and loved it. Great guitar.

Congrats on the new guitar, but tell me... what did you buy your wife for her birthday and how long did you spend shopping for her?

    Remember, she might read this.

    Re: LP Junior SCORE!!!

congrats on the JR.!! I have been eyeing those for a long time. I ended up with an Epi '57 RI JR. in TV Yellow. (which now has a repaired crack in the neck). That I love...

I have even contemplated selling my Goldtop Standard and getting one of those B.J. Armstrong's in it's place.

I have also been looking at the PRS SE One.

    anyhoo..enjoy your new guitar!!

Thanks Kap'n! You and everyone else...All my friends with Pauls keep making me offers. If they get stupid enough, I just might come off of it!

The Jr is a lot like playing an Esquire...sometimes you have to get creative in order to find the sound you're looking for. Tone is in the hands!

I paid for her to go on a gambling junket...it's an annual pilgrimage for her and the other chicks. As far as the possibility of her reading this goes...not likely. She calls you guys my "guitar geek friends".

Nice guitar! I played one of those a while back, and enjoyed it.

    Is that a Silvertone head?

Yeah, it's a 1484 Twin Twelve from '64. I run it with the volumes dimed and with nothin' but a cord between it and my guitar, it oozes AC-DC...'specially with the new Lester!

Awesome! My uncle has one and I've been trying to get it of him for a while, but to no avail. Oh well, maybe one day. He bought it about 40 years ago to play with after he outgrew the case amp.

    Uh-oh...Just bought another Lester Jr.!!!

I'm a sucker for a double-cut! This one's one of Gibson's "Guitar of the week" series. It's a limited run of 400 pieces. I love the "country" pickguard! Should be here the middle of next week. I'll post some pics then!

Oh yeah, I ordered a Duncan Atiquity P90 for the single-cut Jr. on the advice of Jim at JMI. Should be here next week and then that Billy Joe should really sing!

I like that one. The pickguard reminds me of a j200.

I've had a '57 Junior for thirty-three years now. It's not much to look at but when I need some raw P-90, the "toad" really delivers. It sounds best through my '68 Bandmaster but it doesn't do badly through a re-issue tweed 4-10 Bassman either. You got a "keeper" there.

    Re: LP Junior SCORE!!!

My favorite guitars are LP doublecuts...especially 1960 TV Yellow Specials! That Nashville is amazing! Straight through the Twin, she's nice and clean. The ebony board gives it a lot of spank. If you closed you're eyes, you'd think the sound was from a Tele! But step on a juiced Tube Screamer or run her into the Silvertone and she barks like Angus' SG! I didn't want to like it at first, but I've fallen for that one! It's surprisingly versatile for a one-pickup guitar! They only made 400 of them because it was Gibson's "Guitar of the week" for week #41. I saw one go on ebay right after they sold out, for $1450. They retailed for $800! They've since fallen back into line, price-wise or I'd be selling and looking for a Historic or something!
