    Tokai

I have recently acquired a Tokai "Goldstar Sound" strat clone.

The guitar is surprisingly good for the price. Does anyone know

anything about these guitars? It has "oldies but goodies"

written in small print on the headstock. I need to replace the

crappy (non original) bridge but the standard strat bridges have

string spacing that is too wide for the pickups to match up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There's a lot of information at the Tokai Registry .

I think Tokais are great for the money. Better than alot of production Fenders at 1/2-2/3 the price. I had fiesta red AST-56 Strat that is probably coming back to me sometime this Fall. I've also had a couple Tokai Teles in the past. Haven't tried any of the new ones, but the ones from the 80's are a good deal.

    Tokai

Here is my Tokai. I have it set up as a real player guitar, 9.5" radius with 6000 frets, bone nut, Sperzel tuners, John Mann trem, Dimarzio Virtual Vintage pickups. I like to use it for recording as it doesn't hum, sounds good, and stays in tune. It is lightweight, has a nice slab neck, and a nice neck profile. Some Tokais have a strange neck shape, this one feels more correct.

That strat looks real nice Dave. Here in Sweden Tokais are so hyped they cost up to $700.

I've owned 3 Tokai strat copies and they all were decent guitars. I got this one for $120 and it was in rough shape, so I had some fun with it and it turned out great.
