    two coats of color.

i finally pulled the "ole" new tele bass body off the shelf the other day and started work on it. sanded her all down and then started laying some paint on her. i went pretty light as to keep the woodgrain showing.

    here's what i started with:

    one peice ash body.

    waiting to be bolted on:

badass II, duncan antiquity pup, and a maple neck. much closer to stock in regards to my other OG p bass.

    color coat pics to follow.

I'm glad you're leaving the grain visible, because that's some badass grain.

thanks man! funny thing is, i did splice in a peice where i got "a little careless". learned on the spot that a true luthier can hide his faults. that may sound weird, but that's what my friend told me...he always seems to be right.

    more pics to follow.

so i got some shit from the guy at warmoth cause i told him this bass was going to be closer to 50's specs...good for him. but it is: maple/maple neck, low DC pup (thanks again JIM IN TEXAS), paper in oil cap, 250K pots, 50's wiring, ash body. sting can eat his heart out! i even put a coat of kiwi brown shoe polish on the neck, i think it looks great.

    thanks for looking!

Wow. Very nice. I can't wait to see a pic with the guard on it.

everything is pretty much DIY over here at the pacheco custom guitar shop. if i don't have it, i'll make it.

as for the sound, it was very rich and dark, or smooth if that's how your ears are. i need to fiddle with the pup height, and i might even try a baseplate on it.
