    fuse for a 212 deville

Hey guys, I need to replace the fuse in my guitar amp, but I'm a little confused. The manual says to use a 3A 250V fuse. Is this a slo-blo fuse? What should I buy? Can it be found in Radio Shack?

A slow blow fuse will allow higher than rated current to flow for a specific time period, this is to allow for (what's referred to as) inrush.
An ac motor, for example, will draw up to 5X it's rated current on start up. Transformers have similar charictersitics , but for a shorter time. A time delay fuse is designed for such an application.

A 'standard' properly sized fuse would blow every time you started the motor becuse the inrush exceeds what the fuse can deliver
In the event of a direct short, both types will clear (blow) instantly.

    Yes, radio shack

and, if my ramblings were not enough, here is a chart (pdf)

do I look like I know what I'm doing?

    furthermore...

The unit is rated at 180W (input voltage) P=I*E

    180w / 120v = 1.5A

    OEM Fuse rating of 3A

I don't believe a time delay fuse is necessary
as it is 200% of rated draw
do I look like I know what I'm doing?
