    Reliced Amps

OK Kap'n alluded to a reliced amp in another thread. Do you think signature series amps may not be far behind the reliced guitar craze? I mean what good is a reliced guitar through a nice clean looking amp? Those guys with the Blackie guitars should really be able to play them though an exact replica of one of Clapton's tweeds dontcha think?

Especially now in light of the reissue of the Deluxe Tweed. Everyone know those tweeds need cigarette burns, beer stains and frazzled tweed to really have mojo.

Didn't Vox have a Brian May signature amp a while ago? I'm sure others will follow.

    Re: Reliced Amps

I played a reliced '59 Bassman recently... It made me want to clean it!

Maybe they should start putting in the leaky filter caps and burnt out plate resistors from all the ebay Supers and HRDlxes that people seem to be tearing up around here! Then they'd be truly reliced, inside and out. That's what it's about, right? It's got to be *truly* old hasn't it.

Who cares. Any real tweed amp is going to be suitably reliced in about three gigs.

Yep. I know that Randall has also done a few Dimebag Darrell models. Krank as well. I'm sure there are others.

    True!

Those tolex covered amps are a bit tougher though and may take a few more gigs. Who needs a stinkin; cover?

Guess I've been living with my head buried in the sand. I have never heard of these signature amps.

it was. is that bad? a local store gave it to me for $250. You'd be hard pressed to find a better amp at that price.

    Re: Reliced Amps

I just remembered that Crate had, or was going to have, a Bo Diddley signature amp as part of their VC series at one time. I don't know if his name was attached to it when it was released, or if he simply endorsed it.

A store I worked at got one not too long after I left, and they were very short lived. IIRC, it was a 50 watt 2x12, all tube, with three knobs...volume, tremolo depth, and tremolo width.

Well, if you didn't pay a premium for it, I guess that's fine.

It's the whole paying somebody extra to make it ugly that's kind of funny.

I agree. They were selling it as it was a discontinued model so I got it cheap.

I don't like any lice in, on or anywhere near my amps, let alone having it Reliced.

I want a Neil Young signature amp with the Whizzer thingy!
Of course, it would $25K if Fender ever did it.

Yea, that Whizzer Thingy would be nice for all my amps! The Neil Young signature is not a bad idea. Probably a snowballs chance in hell Neil would endorse it.

I have the relic '59 Bassman. Gt is for the same price as the regular one. I like it just fine, and it is nice not to have to worry about scratching it.

Makes me think of $80 designer jeans that have "worn-faded" areas and tattered at the bottoms.
