    Brass strat tremelo blocks?

The steel Callaham blocks are highly reccomended, but what about brass trem blocks? Are they made at all anymore? they used to be all the rage in the 70's.

I put a solid brass (Brass Works?) 6-saddle bridge on my Squier Tele in the mid '80s.

I can't remember if it sounded better than the 3-brass saddle/steel plate bridge that came with the guitar.

Ya gotta see this! I just found THIS looking for brass trem blocks on the net. This makes the Callaham look like Fisher-Price! I am about to email this dude about the Rolls Royce of Trems- the DRISKELL 1 piece Solid Brass trem. Wonder if Steel is still the best??. Out of my price range for THIS guitar, but for a future build, possibly.... . (I still havent had any luck finding regular brass block trems) http://www.driskillguitars.com/tremolo.htm

    Wow! Very nice work.
I'm not sure it's what I want on my guitar though.

That brass bridge must be heavy so much for light guitars, the craftsmanship is stellar.

Those Solid Brass Bridge and Block are gonna rock. Fender quit putting brass bridges in 1985. A friend of mine has one with Fender on it. This Driskill guy has a GREAT Product.

    Re: Brass strat tremelo blocks?

Has anyone been able to source a simple brass block upgrade, a la the Callaham block but in brass instead of steel? This should be much simpler (and therefore cheaper) to make than a whole bridge assembly. And would probably sound as good.

    Re: Brass strat tremelo blocks?

Does Driskill have a great product, based on sound one gets from using his parts, or based on seeing that it looks to be he's an top-shelf machinist?

My old Schecter has a brass block.

It used to have a brass nut too.
That part was replaced w/black graphtek when I had it refretted.

I honestly can say how it contributes or detracts from the sound of the guitar in total. (I love it inspite of the many tone points against it- including poplar body & mystery 1/4 pounder style tapped p'ups)

But I did consider replacing the block because the arm hole thread was worn by the bent thread on the trem arm.
Then you (fezz) recommended plumber's silicon tape.

Problem solved, and I still have a brass block.

I still have two guitars and a bass with brass nuts. I'm not changing them on the mere whim of current fashion. As the circle turns, their time will come again. People used to laugh at my flared jeans, too -- but I knew they'd be back... ha!

Fender even used to sell brass replacement strat knobs.

I guess they must have been TONE knobs.

But I think clogs came back, for a while, anyway.

Let's hope that hair metal is the Earth shoe of music.

They look more like "not of this Earth" shoes.

I used to wear blue suede Adidas. Bright electric blue suede. Musician pals found the urge to step on them irresistible.

i guess that was about 1975.
